Time is Limited, Death is Inevitable

Lockdown Vampires I've brought the lockdown story to a halt. This was partly because I was returned to work after only a month and two weeks of furlough and therefore my spare time was best spent on my second 'Sisters of Annis' book. It was also because writing in the first person isn't my preferred perspective. Vampire's Key is a third person story. I may return to The Lockdown Vampires in the future, I don't know. I've had some positive feedback but if I am going to write, I should put my limited time to better use. With the new and improved virus now out and about, lurking in bodies and haunting the air around us, who knows who will become possessed and how many they will infect? My place of work (where I am coming up to my first year anniversary) have revealed how much of a sham  the upper management are. Like many big organ...

Day One

Lockdown Vampire's Day One Everything's going to shit. The government insist lockdown is the way to go. I'm not so sure. Hiding from the night terrors will just make them bolder. I'm lucky, I'm away from towns and cities. I don't even live in a village. I should be safe here. Why is it that only women get turned?  The government don't seem to know. Their best guess is that it's some sort of virus that affects the X chromosome. If that's true, then it should still affect men, shouldn't it? They got to be wrong. This isn't biology, this is way beyond the stuff our scientists know.  They should have resea...

Time Changes, But Can We Change Our Times?

Time Changes But Can we Change Our Times? Times are tough and uncertain for a lot of people at the moment. Is this all bad, or is this a time when things are being shaken up? We are being forced to face the repetitive monotony that we’ve fallen into. With so many unable to work due to the Coronavirus, it really brings out our fears and worries. Beyond concern for our lives, a lack of financial certainty is the probably biggest burden many of us face. When our income dries up and our homes may be taken from us, we see how fragile our existence in society really is. It is tenuous, only because we continue to work and pay our bills we do not often have to face how tenuous this existence is. For a long time I have felt that society and people need to return to a life that is slower and much, much closer to nature than the one in which we presently live. 24/7/365 is not healthy for us or the planet. This isn’t a call to renounce civilisation and technology, but for society to make...
