Lockdown Vampires

I've brought the lockdown story to a halt. This was partly because I was returned to work after only a month and two weeks of furlough and therefore my spare time was best spent on my second 'Sisters of Annis' book. It was also because writing in the first person isn't my preferred perspective. Vampire's Key is a third person story.

I may return to The Lockdown Vampires in the future, I don't know. I've had some positive feedback but if I am going to write, I should put my limited time to better use.


Limited Time

Limited time is an appropriate phrase for the current hysterical, paranoid, fractured environment and time we inhabit. With the new and improved virus now out and about, lurking in bodies and haunting the air around us, who knows who will become possessed and how many they will infect?

My place of work (where I am coming up to my first year anniversary) have revealed how much of a sham  the upper management are. Like many big organisations they hide behind big slogans and fancy ideas while risking their staff. It's a shame but I should have known. I am fifty and fucking cynical. I'd prefer to be fifty and fucking optimistic but I'm not. 


Covid is only a Shadow

Covid is only a shadow. It is not the societal killer that some (the darker or more aware members of human society) hope for. It is an intimation of how easy it will be for the real deal to wipe us out. 


Time is Limited, Death is Inevitable

With this in mind and sticking with my favourite, bestest, most loved meditation, time is limited, death is inevitable. Covid has potentially caused many to reflect on their mortality, on what they are doing with their life. Life is brief; a brief shot for some, a long cool pint for many, an all nighter for a lot of folk, but whatever slice of the pie you get, it all ends equally: a coffin shaped hole in the ground.

That's sad. Heart-breakingly sad. The gift of life, as the Buddhists assert, is precious and not to be wasted. The only question that remains is what to do with your time?

Sisters of Annis Update

Sisters of Annis Series Update Work continues as best I can on the Sisters of Annis series. I have twenty-eight chapters nearly complete for Vampire's Fire with around 22 left to work through. Once the final draft has been rewritten and edited I can then work with beta readers and finally move on to the proofreader and editor stage. At the moment it is looking more realistic that it will not be released until 2023. That is unfortunate as I really would like to release it this year but my day job is demanding of time (even though I am lucky to only work four days a week) and energy and this often steals my focus. Twitter I have a love hate relationship with this social media app. Interaction on there is low for either of my accounts. At times it gets me down as I write what I consider quite a good tweet and it gets zero interest. Likes are minimal and growing either my PG Devlim account or the erotic Femdom Vampires account is slow.  This is disheartening and reminds me that it is b

Katie's Server

 Katie's Server is now with another beta reader for a final read through. It's already been read by a number of beta readers and passed under an editor's nose so this is a final look over. I cut this book down by half, deleting ten chapters and turning it into a stand alone novel (with the potential for a sequel). The cover is complete and upon receipt of my book, and allowing for no major suggestions, I will look at publishing within the next month or so.
